Let me start by saying... "I am not a chef, lol. I just love burgers and blog about them." This was my opinion line to over 40 guests who joins us at Publix Aprons Cooking School for a "Social Burger Experience" cooking demo in Boca Raton on July 16th, 2015. The demo really was a celebration of my love for burgers and bringing strangers into my world and love for meat.
We began the demo with 2 sliders: 100% Chuck vs a blend of Chuck/Brisket/Sirloin. Simply served on a potato roll. I wanted to highlight the difference between grabbing a pack of chuck, like 90% of consumers might buy at Publix when making burgers against the non traditional blend of meat. I never used a Kitchen Aid mixer with a grinder attachment before so even for me this was a first. As we served the burgers I got a good sense of the guests likes and dislikes. This is why blogging about burgers is so much fun... everyone tastes buds are different. The room was a solid 70/30 spit in favor of the blended burger but the ones who loved the chuck made very solid arguments why they liked it better. Who am I to argue...
I need to also highlight a few friends that passed through: Sef aka - Burger Beast and Chef Michell of Latin House & Grill in Miami made the drive up to hang out during the demo.
Hopefully Publix will invite me back again sometime soon for another demo. This sold out class was fun, laid back and full of meaty laughter. I need to thank the entire Publix Aprons staff for their pre work dedication to making sure the demo went off smooth. Which it did. Thank you!
